Cambodia and Laos Medical Mission Intro - Jan/Feb 2025

Global Healing Hands will begin 2025 serving a medical mission in both Cambodia and Laos. On January 30th in Phnom Penh, Dr. Starnes and a small team will join Dr. Paula Dhanda, from Worldwide Healing Hands, and her team who will have been in Cambodia for a week providing gynecological treatment to women in need. Dr. Starnes’ team plans to perform general surgery procedures with a local physician and team before heading to Vientiane, Laos on Saturday, Feb. 1st. In Laos, they will join 4 more surgeons, 3 physician assistants, 2 certified surgical technologists, a nurse practitioner and a registered nurse for 5 days of clinic, surgery, and educational lectures.

Dr. Starnes has worked with the Laos government for over a year; this will be one of the first times Americans have gained approval to do this type of humanitarian work in the country. The team has been meeting and planning since September of 2024. Many people involved in the coordinating, logistical organizing, and media presence will not even be in attendance, but this trip could not and would not be successful without them. Harriett, Isabella, and Ian are a few names to mention, each one’s contribution makes this and hopefully many more missions feasible in the future.

We hope to highlight individuals throughout this mission on a daily basis. Our goal is to give a glimpse of the day in the life on the mission - let everyone see what it takes and what it means to each person that chose to be here with Global Healing Hands.
